The Resilience Project is a national nonprofit organization established in 2024 by Mary Owens, dedicated to empowering individuals affected by burn injuries. Serving burn survivors, their loved ones, burn care professionals, researchers, and advocates, the organization is committed to fostering resilience, supporting recovery, and promoting a safer world.
The foundation of The Resilience Project was inspired by Mary’s own experience as a burn survivor following a Thanksgiving 2022 cooking grease fire. During a visit to her burn treatment center at Grady Hospital, she witnessed the profound impact of peer support, which became the driving force behind the organization’s mission to provide transformative care and build a stronger, more connected burn community.
Resources for Burn
Survivors & Their Families
The Resilience Project is built on the belief that every story has the power to heal and inspire. By sharing your journey, you become part of a community that embraces strength, courage, and recovery. Whether you’ve faced challenges or overcome the unimaginable, your story matters. Let your voice be heard and help others find hope and resilience through your FIRE.
The purpose of this project is to provide emotional support, encouragement, and practical resources to burn victims, helping them feel empowered during their recovery journey. We want to remind survivors that they are not defined by their scars but by their strength, resilience, and courage. Through this project, we aim to build a community of hope and healing, offering care, comfort, and understanding to those who need it most.
